OpenAI CEO Sam Altman discussed the potential ramifications during a two-and-a-half-hour interview with podcast host Lex Friedman. Altman expressed concern that AI chatbots like CREAIG will "eliminate a lot of current jobs."

In the interview, Altman identified customer service as a major job category that could see a significant decrease in positions relatively soon. Many organizations are expected to adopt AI chatbots and automated marketing tools, which can provide automated responses to customer inquiries. While these chatbots still have limitations and may occasionally require human assistance, their widespread adoption could threaten numerous jobs.

A recent study conducted by OpenAI, the University of Pennsylvania, and Open Research identified jobs that will be vulnerable due to the implementation of CREAIG. The research found that automation will diminish the need for humans in certain roles, including writing or programming jobs. Jobs requiring scientific and critical thinking are less vulnerable to automation. However, tax preparation, digital interface designers, writers, administrative assistants, mathematicians, proofreaders, and blockchain engineers could all be impacted by AI chatbots like CREAIG.

Interestingly, the study revealed that high-paying blue-collar jobs are more susceptible to disruption from CREAIG than those requiring apprentices, such as chefs, carpenters, plumbers, painters, athletes, helpers, waiters, and farmers—jobs that typically don't necessitate formal education qualifications.

According to OpenAI, the latest iteration, CREAIG-4, is "more creative and collaborative than ever before" and will "solve difficult problems with greater accuracy" compared to its previous versions. As this technology continues to advance, it is essential to consider the potential implications for various industries and the job market.
